Company History

Founded in 1981 with a mission of providing exceptional therapy services, PTS opened its first outpatient clinic in Morton, IL. From that point forward, we have seen steady growth in patient volume and in the number of employees. With business growth, came the challenge of recruiting qualified therapists in the midst of a shortage.

We have met this challenge by offering flexible work schedules and part-time hours for our employees to optimize their work-life balance.

When PTS President Mike Riley, PT and PTS Regional Director Cindy Rankin, PT developed the business plan, they envisioned providing services in a number of different settings. Traditionally, when therapists completed training they were employed in rehabilitation departments within hospitals and nursing homes. They had a vision to establish a therapist owned, group practice which would allow PTS to provide a variety of programs and services and be diversified.

As PTS grew so did our programs and services offerings. In 2003, we were one of the first companies to start our own Education Division. Mike and Cindy had a shared vision to have a State certified, continuing education program for therapy professionals; we now bring in national speakers for training seminars so all area therapists and assistants can benefit.

2013 brought more excitement as we added AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmills to our outpatient clinics in Central and Southern Illinois. It is the world’s first and only treadmill using NASA based anti-gravity technology, designed to help patients in their short-term rehabilitation programs.

Today, the Central and Southern Regions of PTS employ nearly 400 Therapists, Therapy Assistants and support personnel. We have grown to over 20 locations in Central IL and over 10 locations in Southern IL. We believe it is important to have established, quality, long-lasting relationships with our customers, contracts and our employees.

For nearly 40 years, PTS has been able to meet the changing needs of the healthcare field and will continue to offer ” more than just therapy” in the future. Whether utilizing PTS’ services through a hospital, nursing home, outpatient clinic or other setting, our patients will continue to receive personalized, quality care from our professional therapy staff.
