This course is designed to provide education on the foundational elements behind this wellness program and tools to assist our patients in understanding ones health. These elements include the following:

-Aerobic vs Anaerobic Exercises

-Sleep hygiene and how sleep can have both a positive and negative impact on health.

-Stress and negative habits associated with high stress

-General exercise recommendations and a sample exercise program

Current statistics state that noncompliance with a home exercise program is as high as 50%, though there were cases we can argue this number is higher. Patients spend less than1% of their week in PT sessions. These are all odds that work against outcomes, affect
reimbursement, and overall patient satisfaction. This course will provide learners with information on why non-compliance may exist and how a clinician can assist with improving patient compliance. Learners will engage in discussion about the stages of behavior
change, what this looks like in a clinical setting, and how to facilitate a patient through the varied stages.

Continuing Education Credit: PTS is approved by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation as a continuing education provider for physical therapy and occupational therapy, License 216-000021 and 224-000038. Each course is offered for 0.2 CEUs (2 contact hours) unless otherwise noted.

Attendees: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, and Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation by a participant must be written and postmarked no later than 7 days prior to the scheduled seminar date and will result in a refund less a 15% service fee.  PTS reserves the right to cancel the seminar 7 days prior to the scheduled seminar date.  All participants will be notified in the event of a cancellation and a full refund will be issued.
